Duminda Sanjeewa, born in 1984 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, embarked on his cinematic journey as an Animation and VFX artist in 2005, laying the foundation for his multifaceted career in filmmaking. His fascination with cinema as a means to escape the harsh realities of daily life became evident from an early age.
In 2010, Duminda transitioned into the role of an ad film director, marking a pivotal moment in his career. His inaugural project involved crafting a TV commercial for Sri Lanka's one of leading life insurance company, HNB Assurance. This landmark commercial not only showcased Duminda's directorial prowess but also left an indelible mark on the industry. The insurance product featured in the commercial went on to win the SLIM Brand Excellence Award that year, underscoring Duminda's ability to blend creativity with commercial success.
In 2017, Duminda proudly introduced his debut feature film, "Withered Leaf," a project that quickly gained international recognition. The film made significant impressions at esteemed film festivals, including the South Asian Film Festival of Montreal, where it reached the semi-finalist stage. Further accolades followed with nominations for Best Debut Film from the Singapore South Asian International Film Festival and the Jaffna International Cinema Festival in Sri Lanka. "Withered Leaf" also secured a spot as an official selection at renowned festivals worldwide.

With over 15 years of experience in local and international film, television, and video productions, Duminda has honed his skills in directing, editing, and scripting. His professional journey includes roles such as a VFX Compositor at Trikone Art Center and Sky Entertainers in the early years of his career.
Currently serving as a Film Director at Cherry Isle Productions since January 2019, Duminda His tenure at Sky Entertainers from 2008 to 2018 this period also witnessed the realization of his debut feature film, "Withered Leaf." Duminda is a prominent figure in the Sri Lankan advertising industry, contributing his directorial skills to major clients such as Nestle, Unilever, Sri Lanka Tourism, and various other corporate and consumer brands..
